Yea to our little Abby!
A couple of weeks ago Abby quietly made the decision to try out for the cheer squad for high school next year. She told no one but me her dad, her track coach and school administration, in fear of not making it she didn't want to let anyone down. Her Entire life she has wanted to dance and cheer. Needless to say it seemed like an easy decision to let her go and do this. I thought well why not .... she will learn from it and then next year know exactly what they are looking for....right.....Well she ran from cheer clinics to track meets, to dance rehearsals to track practice to homework to YW to ya she was running nuts...After the Thursday Cheer Clinic I picked her up and she looked overwhelmed and scared....There were a lot of girls and they were good...I don't know. Her dad told her that it is good to try scary things and sometimes its even better to fail at scary things because that's what makes you stronger. SO
I picked her up right after school and we did her hair in the cheer ponytail, bangs back, and of course blue and gold glitter, helped her walk through her stuff, had prayer and dropped my baby off to what she calls" THE scariest thing I have ever done in my entire life!"
She kept in contact through text...She got put in the first group to try out...AHHHHHH Mom was so worried for her! Then around 5:30 she said call backs were coming........NOTHING for almost 2 hours!!!!!! I think I must have checked down the street a million times to see if she was coming home in tears...I kept looking at my phone to see if it was on..Then all of the sudden my phone buzzed....Scott said look at it.....
I MADE IT!!!!!!!!!!!
Our reply " Made what?"
Her " I don't care!!!!!!!!"
Our Roo made it she said she got called back in over and over and she decided "This is it girl rock and it and show them what you got" and she nailed everything. They called out jump after jump she did it...."Mom I have never been more confident in my entire life!" We walked over to her coaches and asked which squad she made and they smiled
VARSITY!!!! Only Freshman!
Scott and I got in the car looked at each other and said " Holy Cow!"
We are so excited for her! WE will post pictures as soon as we can I was so anxious to get to her that night I didn't even think of course to take a picture.
It was a parent pay day..Then of course as I mentioned no one knew she was even trying out sooooooo first things first she had us take her to her very good friend to share the news with him first...It was a sweet moment! I think that shall be a day Abby Never Forgets!
